At アレックスの英会話教室(Alex’s Eikaiwa), we are more than just an educational institution – we are a small local business with a big vision. We are currently seeking a creatively minded and dedicated ESL teacher who is not just an educator but someone intrigued by the idea of entrepreneurship, playing a pivotal role in operating a small business, and is interested in making Japan their long-term home while desiring to establish themselves in a local community.
About Us
Alex’s Eikaiwa started its journey in 2022 at Alex and Yurie’s house in Kaminoge, Setagaya (Tokyo). Our passion for education and community led to the establishment of a small local business that now thrives on the spirit of personal connection. Our mission is to empower students with language skills that transcend borders and open doors to endless possibilities. In addition to English teaching, we host engaging events. Following a merger with Studio KJ in September 2023, Alex’s Eikaiwa has become an even more dynamic force in language education. We are looking for a creatively minded ESL teacher with excellent communication skills who is not only committed to language education but also interested in contributing to the growth and success of a business with a unique origin story, making Japan their long-term home, and actively establishing themselves in the local community.
Position: ESL Teacher
Work Type: Part Time (possibility of shifting to full-time)
Hours: 4 hours/day (16 hours/ week)
Schedule: 3 Weekdays 3pm-8pm + Saturday Mornings (4 days)
Salary: 2,000 – 3,000 yen/hour (Depending on qualification/education)
Benefits: Transportation fee provided, Visa sponsorship available
Location: Kaminoge, Setagaya (Tokyo)
Work with students aged 3 – adults (most likely 6 – 12)
Responsibilities: Develop and deliver engaging ESL lessons that cater to students’ varying language proficiency levels.
Contribute to the planning and execution of English-related events.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel motivated to excel.
Actively communicating and participating in business growth by providing ideas, testing concepts, and providing feedback.
Qualifications:
- Must currently reside in Japan.
- English level: Native
- Japanese level: Conversational
- Looking to work for a minimum of 1 year.
- Bachelor’s degree (especially in English Education or related field prefered).
- Passion for promoting language acquisition and cultural understanding.
- Interest in entrepreneurship and operating a small business.
- Desire to make Japan their long-term home.
- Eagerness to establish oneself in the local community.
- Creatively minded with excellent communication skills.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- ESL teaching certification and relevant teaching experience prefered.
